Since 2008, OUT Adventures has planned slick and sublime escapes for the gay community. From day one, our Co-Founders – Robert Sharp and Steven Larkin – also made it a mandate to enrich the lives and livelihoods of the communities we visit. With this consideration of everybody involved, we’ve quickly grown into one of the world’s most highly-regarded LGBT travel brands.
If you’ve had the pleasure of dealing with our team, let us put a face to the name. If not, take a look at the gents that are driven to provide you with a superior level of customer service, and the best gay holiday around.
ROBERT SHARP, PRESIDENT & CO-FOUNDER:
Rob has personally visited 55 countries and counting. He tirelessly scopes out new destinations and epic experiences to share with adventurous spirits. When at the office, you’ll find Rob counting the beans, silently weeping inside as he awaits his next journey.
BRENNON ZWINGLI, SALES MANAGER:
Brennon is our in-house adventure guru, master traveller, and a ruthless ball of sunshine. His personalized approach, like some wander-lusty motivational speaker, will inspire you to explore.
LINO DINALLO, CHIEF WORDSMITH:
Lino’s life goals include marrying rich and travelling the world. While working on the former, he happily indulges the latter with OUT Adventures. He also types like Liberace plays the piano, bedazzling our trip descriptions and newsletters with a salty slapdash of sentences.
A FEW OF OUR GUIDES
Every OUT Adventure begins with a rock-star guide. Their enthusiasm, versatility, and cultural understanding are unparalleled (usually because they’re one of the locals). Here are some of the people who may lead your journey:
Nai has been leading OUT Adventures tours in Thailand since 2009. Born and raised in the Bangkok area, Nai developed a passion for tourism at a young age. Not only is he “family” but also a deeply religious Buddhist. He’ll show you the most sacred places in Thailand during the day, and the hottest spots at night!
Aléjandrina, or Alé as we like to call her, is our Peruvian Mama. She’s taken good care of our guys and gals since 2009. Whether hiking the Inca Trail or exploring the Amazon, you’ll quickly see why our past travellers don’t just see Alé as a guide, but as a friend.
Shintaro-san is one of the most experienced tourism professionals in Japan. When in his care, you’ll be sure to not only delve into the culture and history of Japan, but you’ll also have access to places normally out of bounds to the average tourist.
A visit to Croatia is truly not complete without the knowledge and warmth that Livio offers OUT Adventures guests. With nearly 20 years’ experience, this man sure knows his way around, and being an international world traveller, he provides context that many guides are unable to.
We Look After You
From the moment you inquire about a trip, until you arrive back home, you’ll be loved. We get to know our travellers as well as possible, because it’s the easiest way to ensure you have the time of your life.
We Get It
We’ve collectively explored over 80 countries, and all seven continents. We also
know that if you’re considering a gay holiday, you deserve more than a
In short, we offer experience and expertise like no other.
Every detail of every trip is well-considered. We seek out the best local transport, restaurants, and boutique hotels. We consider value for every dollar spent, and ensure it all adds up to the most epic escape at the best price possible.
Freedom & Flexibility
Some operators provide a bare-bones package, leaving you to spend hundreds on excursions and add-ons. Other itineraries are so jam-packed you’re left exhausted and craving a holiday by the time you get home. Every OUT Adventure features destination highlights, while giving you enough time to explore on your own.
Every OUT Adventure is an intimate experience. Our land-based tours never exceed 16 travellers, and our cruises average 40 people per sailing. Whether by ground or by sea, we’ll take you places no coach or cruise liner could.
You’ll meet people from around the world, and all walks of life, that are predominantly gay men (women, friends, and family are welcome of course). Our singles-to-couples ratio is pretty evenly split, and our typical traveller is 35-50 years old.
Every place we stay is LGBT-friendly and perfectly captures the essence of where we visit. Accommodations range from cozy 3.5-star properties to stunning 4- and 5-star boutiques. You most certainly won’t wind up in a ‘reassuringly’ beige chain hotel.
We make it a point to ensure the money we spend benefits the local community in a meaningful way. That means dining at local restaurants, hiring local guides, and traveling by local modes of transport…camel ride, anyone?
Every OUT Adventure respects and benefits everything about the places we visit: the locals, their culture, and even the environment. We’ll provide you with plenty of info before you depart so you know what to expect.
Scheduled Tours & Themes
With 40+ scheduled adventures on 6 continents throughout the year, you’re bound to find something to fit your taste, schedule, and budget. Tell us what you’re after, or where you want to go, and we can recommend a journey that’s perfect for you.
We’ve broken every trip down by themes like hiking, food, and culture, so you can easily find the kind of trip you’re after. In a few effortless clicks, we can narrow down our offerings to suit your taste.
If you love one of our packages, but don’t love the thought of group travel, click the “Instant Private Pricing” icon. The cost of your personal escape will be shown based on the month of travel and number of travellers.
Tailor-Made & Bespoke Vacations
We plan hundreds of tailor-made holidays every year. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone birthday, throwing a destination wedding, or planning your honeymoon, just fill out our interactive questionnaire and we’ll make it happen.
Seeing some of the most unique and interesting places on the planet means the local culture may not be as forward-thinking when it comes to the LGBT community. But rest assured, we’ve sourced the most welcoming guides, hotels, and restaurants. We’ll also go over the local customs so you don’t unwittingly ruffle any feathers.
Our passion is planning escapes, not selling insurance. But over the years we’ve learned how necessary basic medical, baggage loss, and trip interruption coverage, which is why we now automatically include it in the price of your tour. For more information, visit our insurance page.
Think Twice. Book once.
When you’re ready to book, we’ll review the itinerary you’ve chosen, and ensure it’s just what you’re after. If we don’t think you’ll love the experience, we may suggest a different escape (believe it or not, we’ve even suggested the competition). Our trips are meant to be the adventure of a lifetime, and we want you to feel the same way.
Guaranteed Departures & Early Booking Bonus
Most land-based tours need 4 confirmed guests before the trip is guaranteed to happen. Cruises are a little trickier…to find the minimum number of guests required, look under Quick Facts on the cruise’s info page. Planning ahead is so appreciated by us, we offer a $150 early-booking bonus (look for details on each trip page) to the first handful of people confirmed with a deposit.
Deposits & Cancellations
A $750 USD deposit is required for tours, with exceptions outlined on each trip page. For private or tailor-made vacations, a 50% deposit is required. All deposits are fully non-refundable since a great deal of work happens on our end before the holiday even begins. Click here to read more about cancellation penalties.
Traveling on your own
Flying solo is a great way to see the world and grow as a person. That’s probably why half our guests do just that. If you’d like to share a room, we’ll gladly pair you with somebody near the same age. Or you can pay a supplemental fee for your own room, and the naked privilege that privacy offers.
Our office and reservations department is open 10AM-6PM Eastern Standard Time, Monday to Friday.
