Om Swasti Astu! Welcome to Bali. To make the most of your stay, you’ll be transferred directly to Ubud upon arrival. Located in the heart of the island, it’ll take about 90 minutes to reach. Once you’ve checked in to our luxurious base hotel, there will be time to unwind from your travels before we meet for a group meeting, followed by an optional dinner at 6PM.

Today begins with an early breakfast, followed by a transfer to Guliang village. Here, we’ll immerse ourselves in traditional Balinese life through a hands-on cooking course, including a visit to the local market to pick up ingredients. After we’re done cooking, we’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch along with spectacular views of the surrounding rice fields. In the afternoon, we’re off to Pura Besakih, the island’s most sacred Hindu temple. Incidentally, the temple is located on the western slopes of Bali’s highest volcano, Mt Agung, which reaches 2567 m. The evening is yours to relax at the hotel, or join the group for an optional dinner organized by our OUT Adventures concierge.

Today is devoted to cruising around in vintage Volkswagen 181 convertibles (this quirky off-road vehicle was known as “The Thing” during its brief North American run). Our first stop is the rarely visited Goa Garba Temple, built around the 12th century during the reign of King Jayapangus. We’ll then visit the ten rock-cut shrines of Gunung Kawi temple, followed by an included lunch at a mountainside restaurant. Queens should be on high alert, as we’re off to the Ubud Palace after lunch, where the royal family lives (you may just feel right at home). After that, we’re off to the busy Ubud Art Market, with a final stop at the Hindu Pura Beji temple in the Monkey Forest. Tonight is also yours to enjoy at your leisure, or you may join the group for an optional dinner.

Our last full day in Ubud begins with another early morning to visit Pengelipuran, a village renowned for traditional Balinese architecture. We’ll then return to the hotel for lunch, followed by a visit to three more temples. The first is the graceful water temple of Pura Taman Ayun. Then we’re off to Alas Kedaton, located in a monkey forest of the same name. And finally, Bali’s most-photographed temple, Tanah Lot, awaits (perched on a rocky islet that is inaccessible during high tide, you’ll soon understand why). Our afternoon ends in Seminyak, where we’ll enjoy a sunset cocktail and canapés at the famous Tugu Hotel before returning to our hotel for dinner.

This morning we depart our hotel bright and early, as we’re flying off to Flores for our Beautiful Beautiful Bali Cruise (so if you're joining us for that, the adventure is just beginning).
